http://e-systemsgroup.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/Front-Raised-Floor-300x300.png

According to a recent study, the cost of defending a trip-and-fall case in 2016 was over $50,000, and the compensation amount is typically over $20,000. In facilities with old, improperly installed, or unleveled raised flooring, these incidents can be quite high.

In addition, legacy floor systems in place for over 20 years are at significant risk for collapse, putting employees, sensitive equipment, and uptime in danger.

Let us help.

http://e-systemsgroup.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/neon-open-sign-1404389631jnS-900x450.jpg

If you are considering your own server closet on-site or exploring options at shared facilities, know there are numerous benefits for small businesses utilizing data centers for tasks like storage, processing, and data distribution.

Speed

Data centers, large and small, have dedicated high-speed internet and improved capabilities for data transmission across town or across the globe.

Reliability

Maintenance, monitoring, and uptime are significantly improved within data centers as part of their standard operating procedure and combined with expert support staff, whether on-location or remote.

Security

Individual server closets and colocation facilities can be outfitted with multiple levels of physical security, from guards to biometric locks. For cybersecurity, firewalls and private networks are also valuable.

Cost

Cabling, racking, and other infrastructure costs have, on the whole, decreased dramatically. In addition, cooling and containment technology as well as power solutions are more advanced than the previous generation – driving down energy usage and TCO.

Out of this World: Data Centers in Space

http://e-systemsgroup.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/moon-landing-60582_640-1-640x640.jpg

A Los Angeles company believes that outer space is well-suited to house its data centers and was recently awarded a U.S. patent to get started on a data center in space.

Cloud Constellation Corp. is preparing the necessary telecom, architecture and other equipment to send a data center into low-Earth orbit. They believe that this will help international data transmission, particularly for large organizations and governments.

Citing insecurities, slowness, and legality as issues with terrestrial data centers, the company is building eight satellites to begin testing in 2018.

75% More Stable Data Center Temperature

http://e-systemsgroup.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/thermometer-789898_640-640x426.jpg

A 2015 IDC Solutions study at a telecommunication facility in Australia demonstrated that retrofitting with EziBlank brushes and blanking panels reduced temperature fluctuation by 75%.

Despite energy efficiency being cited as a top priority for data center managers, there is much concern about cost and downtime for actually making improvements and changes.

In the above study, detailed before and after figures were presented using noninvasive power monitoring combined with measurements for air pressure and temperature.

As a result of the installation, focused cooling was improved, hot air contamination was decreased, and data center temperature stability and fan load were improved by 75% - all contributing to lower energy usage and, therefore, lower costs.

EziBlank solution is affordable as well as quick and easy to install, alleviating concerns for cost. In addition, they can be placed with zero downtime or service interruption.

So, let’s make it Ezi – contact us or purchase online today.

Quantum Air Tile White Paper: Product Efficacy Review

http://e-systemsgroup.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/e-Systems-CFS-Quantum-Tile-White-Paper-651x660.jpg

A group of third-party researches and scholars recently conducted a two-part study testing the effectiveness of the Quantum Air Tile compared to several other data center perforated tiles in both a single-rack situation and an entire row.

Not only were directional air tiles proven to be a reliable method of decreasing temperature and airflow leakage but Quantum illustrated the most efficiency and least air resistance.

Scope: Recently, the performance of Quantum Air Tile™ was tested in two studies [1,2] conducted by the Center for Energy-Smart Electronic Systems (ES2), an NSF Industry-University Collaborative Research Center at Binghamton University. The study focuses on experimental characterization of the airflow patterns after different types of perforated floor tiles for data centers. A Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) model is then used to study the supplied airflow by this tiles in rack level. Finally, the impact of tile design on the thermal performance of IT equipment in open and enclosed aisles is investigated. The tile was donated to ES2 by e-Systems Group, headquartered in Binghamton.

Approach: To test the airflow of the perforated tile experimentally, a Quantum tile was placed in to ES2 unique tile research setup (see Fig. 1). The experimental setup is designed to simulate the real conditions inside the raised floor of a data center. The smoke visualization test is implemented to show the direction of airflow above the tile. Furthermore, detailed model of the tile is built and implemented in a computational fluid dynamic (CFD) model of the experimental setup. The accuracy of CFD results is validated by the experimental measurements. Furthermore, the performance of the tile for supplying air to an adjacent rack is presented. Finally, the impact of tile design on inlet air temperature of IT equipment in open and contained aisles is investigated and compared.

ASHRAE 90.4 – What You Need to Know

http://e-systemsgroup.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/ASHRAE_Logo.svg_-500x355.png

ASHRAE, the American Society of Heating, Refridgerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers, has updated its standards on data center energy efficiency.

For several years, 90.4 had been in development, hammering out guidelines on “design, construction, operation, and maintenance” both on and off site for data centers.

ASHRAE 90.4 differentiates “critical aspects and risks” between data center facilities and standard building. The standard also takes into account varying global climate zones. The goal is to decrease energy consumption of data centers, especially through containment.

How can e-Systems Group help?

e-Systems Group provides enclosures, thermal management systems, CFD analysis and airflow solutions to improve the efficiency and lower the costs of the data center. Simple solutions such as blanking unused rack space to using the proper racking along with the proper placement of perforated tiles can be a starting point to improving thermal management.  Physical and virtual containment systems are available to increase lower cooling costs as well.

By containing and directing hot air, our containment solutions deliver significant cost savings while improving the long-term reliability of mission critical IT equipment. We can protect your assets and help you comply with ASHRAE standards with the most effective thermal management technologies that optimize your cooling systems.
